Tarannum-The Music Society of JMC

"There's music in the sighing of a reed;
There's music in the gushing of a rill;
There's music in all things, if men had ears:
Their earth is but an echo of the spheres."
~Lord Byron

This society to me had been my identity for 3 exquisite years. Though music may have connected me with it at first sight, the experience within it has connected me with it for a lifetime!
“A painter paints pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence” said, Leopold Stokowski. This stands true as the silence and monotony of life is broken by the tranquil voices possessed by the girls in this society!
The years one spends in this society are a very important chapter of life, involving lessons on team spirit, patience (with both failure and success), selfless contribution and most importantly honouring the art being presented!
In retrospect, the memories seem mesmerizing and totally fulfilling! Of course it has had its ups and downs, and will continue to have, as a prerequisite of life, but what makes us unique is how we handle them.
It makes me extremely proud to see all of you prove your caliber not only in music, but also in driving yourselves effortlessly through thick and thin of the society! I think the following lines describe these girls suitably:

“ God sent his Singers upon earth
With songs of sadness and of mirth,
That they might touch the hearts of men,
And bring them back to heaven again.”
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Faith

Faith in ourselves, faith in others, faith in God…faith in everything and everyone! It all seems so easy to say, but hardly do we adhere to this notion. Its tough for us to even accept a token of love without suspicion in our eyes and skepticism in our voice!
The only soothing factor that dilutes the faithlessness is time, yet that is determined by our judgement driven by prejudices and preferences...which is so not fair!
How would it be if nature too decided to put its preconceptions into play? But it gives its fruits to all and presents everyone with opportunities. Even as part of this very nature it seems so deviant of us to act paradoxically. This distances us from the very essence of motivation, faith! A simple act of accepting the positive side of oneself and others leads to optimism in every walk of life. It cultivates faith in the supreme power( no matter who he/she is), fellow beings and most significantly life!
